This program is perfect for kids ages 8+ who are curious about creating their own music, experimenting with sounds, and learning the basics of recording and production. It’s a great fit for beginners, young musicians, and creative students who enjoy technology, storytelling, and hands-on projects in a real studio environment.

No experience needed. Just curiosity, willingness to participate, and an interest in music or sound.

Getting Comfortable in the Studio

  • How sound works 
  • How to use a microphone properly
  • How to record clean audio

weeks 3-4

Recording & Editing Basics

  • How to use recording software (record, stop, play)
  • How to organize and save your work
  • How to fix mistakes using simple editing tools

weeks 5-6

Beats & Mixing

  • How to build a simple beat
  • How tempo affects music
  • How to balance sound using volume, panning, and basic effects

04

weeks 7-8

Create your Final Project

  • How to structure a short piece of music
  • How to record and arrange your ideas
  • How to finalize and share your project

Meet Your Instructor

Alisa Erlikh

Music Production Instructor

Classically trained in the oboe and piano at the Royal Conservatory of Music, Alisa pursued an Audio Engineering Diploma from Trebas Institute after graduating University of Toronto. She has been DJing and producing music since the age of 13, and doing sound for Film and TV since 2016. 
 
Developing workshops for various colleges and programs across the city, Alisa eventually settled into the instructional role at Toronto Film School, as well as offering audio for film education to young talent at the Muskoka Film Camp.
 
Alisa’s teaching style is very experiential – she invites the students to operate the equipment as she instructs them step by step, allowing the students to learn by listening and discovering the motions intuitively.
