About This Course

DJ Fundamentals (Adult) is an introduction to DJing for adults who want to learn the craft from the ground up. You’ll learn how to work with professional DJ equipment, beatmatch, mix tracks, create transitions, and build a set from the music you love.

The focus is on learning by doing. You’ll spend each class behind the decks, putting new techniques into practice, experimenting with different tracks, and gradually building the confidence to DJ on your own.

No previous experience is required. You can start by using our professional equipment in the studio, then transition to your own laptop, headphones, and controller as you progress.

Ideal For

Adults who are curious about DJing and want to learn the fundamentals in a professional studio environment. No previous DJ experience is required.

Meet Your Instructors

Alisa Erlikh

DJ Instructor

Classically trained in the oboe and piano at the Royal Conservatory of Music, Alisa pursued an Audio Engineering Diploma from Trebas Institute after graduating University of Toronto. She has been DJing and producing music since the age of 13, and doing sound for Film and TV since 2016.

Developing workshops for various colleges and programs across the city, Alisa eventually settled into the instructional role at Toronto Film School, as well as offering audio for film education to young talent at the Muskoka Film Camp.

Alisa’s teaching style is very experiential – she invites the students to operate the equipment as she instructs them step by step, allowing the students to learn by listening and discovering the motions intuitively.

He holds an Honours BFA in Electroacoustics from Concordia University and returned to Toronto in 2017 to build his career as a producer, audio engineer, and music creative. In 2022, Beau was an assistant engineer on the Juno-winning album Zhawenim by Digging Roots.

Currently, Beau works as a contract engineer at 80A Studios, Union Sound, and Revolution Recording and mixes in the private east end studio Raventape Music Room (where he works as writing duo RoBeau with fellow producer Robbie Grunwald). Since 2022, Beau has been the Recording Instructor in Sheridan College’s post-graduate Music For Screen and Stage program.
